Process for Certified Lay Minister (CLM) Candidates

1) Be a certified Lay Servant within the UMC, or equivalent as defined by your local pastor
2) Be a member of a United Methodist Church in the Wilmington District
3) Served in a leadership role in your local church
4) Read "Christian as Minister" and discuss with your pastor
5) Meet the approval of your SPRC
6) Request registration form from CLM Coordinator
7) Have pastor & SPRC Chair sign Registration Form with dates.
Requirements for entering the process:
1) Send a letter of approval to the District Superintendent
2) Request the District Superintendent meet with the Lay Servant.
3) Follow up to insure meeting occurs
Candidate Must:
1) Meet with candidate for approval
2) Sign and date the registration form
3) Student cannot attend class unless they meet with the District Superintendent
Your Pastor Must: (After above requirements are met)
1) Complete and mail the Registration Form for CLM training.
2) Begin the 4-Module Training process.
3) Receive further information as you make your way through the course.
4) Continue to meet annually with your DCOM until you have completed the full four training modules.
5) After you graduate from the training, request a meeting with DCOM to receive certification as a CLM.
