Process for candidates for Licensed Local Pastor
First Steps as an Exploring Candidate:

Becoming a Certified Candidate:

Once a candidate has satisfactorily provided and completed all the documentation and tasks listed above, the DCOM will vote whether to certify the candidate as a candidate for ministry.

Certification indicates that the DCOM considers the candidate to be fit and ready for ministry; after which the Bishop and Cabinet may appoint the candidate to a ministry setting. Additional requirements would be required at that time.

  1. Receive online registration for GBHEM information from District Superintendent
  2. Participate in an Orientation to Ministry group OR work with assigned mentor to complete Candidacy Guidebook
  3. Meet yearly with the DCOM as scheduled (for interview materials, click here)
  4. Complete requirements for certification (for DCOM file checklist, click here)
Continuing as a Certified Candidate:
  1. Must be approved for continuance each year by DCOM
  2. Continue to meet wth DCOM yearly, providing complete and acceptable Interview Materials by the deadline designated (interview materials, click here)
  3. Continue to meet with mentor a minimum of four times/year
  4. Begin or continue to pursue and complete all educational requirements
  5. Continue to work and report on action items identified at previous year's DCOM meeting

Once the candidates have completed all educational requirements, they may pursue Associate Membership in the Annual Conference with additional requirements. Local License pastors continue to meet yearly with DCOM for oversight and support.
